Tritons Trot on to Post Season

This weekend’s show, March 7th and 8th, at Cal Poly Pomona was a big one for the team. Not only did it include the two-day final show of the regular season, but also included regionals. On day one of the regular show, Lindsay Giebel placed 3rd in intermediate fences and Aleena Karamally placed 4th in novice fences. For flat, Amanda Moller placed 6th in open, Anna Young placed 1st and Lindsay placed 2nd for intermediate, Aleena placed 3rd in novice, and Janelle Lines placed 3rd for walk-trot-canter advanced. On day two of the regular show Amanda placed 5th in open fences, Anna placed 4th in intermediate fences, and Aleena placed 2nd in novice fences (qualifying her for regionals). For flat, Amanda placed 4th in open, Anna placed 4th in intermediate, Aleena placed 2nd for novice, and Janelle placed 5th for walk-trot-canter advanced. This year, the UC San Diego team had five riders qualify for regionals. Jessica Lin and Kelsea Ericksen qualified for walk-trot. Jessica placed fifth and Kelsea placed second, securing her a spot in zones. Lindsey Pieper qualified for walk-trot-canter, and placed 3rd. Aleena Karamally qualified for novice over fences, and placed 3rd. Lindsay Giebel qualified for intermediate over fences and on the flat, placing 1st on the flat, winning a gift card and a new helmet along with a spot in zones. She also is moving on for intermediate fences. Zones will take place the first weekend in April at Stanford College, and UC San Diego will be well represented by both Kelsea and Lindsay! The team had an amazing regular season and will surely keep it up in post season!
